Regular NVPS meetings are usually held on the 4th Monday of each month, except December. We have informal social time from 6:30 pm, the business meeting at 7:00 and the main event, which is either a presentation on a photographic topic or a critique of members pictures, at about 7:15. Meetings generally finish by 9:00. Meetings are held at the Napa Valley Art Association Gallery, 1520 Behrens St, Napa, unless otherwise stated.

Monday April 23: regular NVPS meeting at NVAA Gallery. Megan Holly Clouse of Megan Holly Clouse Photography will discuss her work, display some of her photo books, and a show a CD of her images. Megan specializes in wedding photography, so the theme for the critique is People. Send your digital files by Sunday 4/22 to Michael Schaer NVPS.Photo.Critique@gmail.com.

Memorial Day Weekend: Annual picnic at Veterans Memorial Park, Yountville. Date: May 27, 2012. Time: 10 pm to 5 pm. Meet by the Bocci courts and bring your cameras. The annual Memorial Day Picnic is in lieu of the May meeting, so there will be NO meeting on May 28.

Monday June 25: The annual business meeting and election of new officers. After the business portion of the meeting we will do a members critique. This will be a "Minute to Spin It" type of critique. Submit two digital photos to MJ at NVPS.Photo.Critique@gmail.com.

Members are asked to note the following suggestions to facilitate and enhance critiques of their images:

• Always aim to submit images that reflect your best recent work.
• Preferably submit images that fit the selected theme, which is normally based on the critiquer's specialty.
• If you don’t have images that fit the theme, you may send in your best shots anyway for showing in an “off-theme” category.
• The critiquer will be encouraged to comment on lighting, composition, cropping, etc.  and then to ask the photographer what their intention was.
• Be prepared to speak up at the meeting - let the critiquer and the audience know what you are trying to achieve and give a context to the image.
